Off to a great start!

Thanks to everyone who came out to see me and all of the other great authors at the Pulaski Public Library last Saturday. It was fun to meet so many new people... and Cookie Monster! Make sure you check out my Facebook page, "Can This Author Make it in One Year?" for pictures and a video!

Sandy Creek Rocked!

WOW... thanks to everyone at the Sandy Creek Library for making my first official speaking engagement such a fun and memorable event! Valerie, Elaine, Michelle, nice kids like Ali, Conner and Molly and EVERYONE who took time to talk to me, whether you bought a book or not! I loved the Halloween costumes and the great questions the audience had for me afterwards. Oh, and macaroni and cheese was to die for! A very well-organized event. Hope it becomes an annual event. Maybe next year it can be a multi-author affair!

In-Store Appearance This Weekend!

Coming up this weekend, I'll be at one of my favorite places to do book signings... the Burrville Cider Mil! Always a very busy place. I will be joined by fellow authors Marcus Mastin and Dave Shampine. Stop in Saturday (10/15) for cider, donuts and books! We'll be there from 11AM, to 2PM. Hope to see you there!

October is here! My favorite month of the year. :^) I welcomed in the new month with "Barktoberfest" on 10/1, a fundraiser for the Jefferson County SPCA. I have a rare weekend off this Saturday and Sunday (unless I'm called to do a remote for the radio station). Perhaps my husband and I will take a drive to the Adirondacks to see the fall foliage. The following weekend (10/15), I'll be paying my annual visit to the Burrville Cider Mill. I'll be joined by fellow North Country authors, Marcus Mastin and Dave Shampine. Sure to be a fun time for all involved!

Started decorating the yard for Halloween today. Maybe when it's all finished, I'll post a pic or two!

Lowville, NY

I had a very enjoyable time at the Lowville Free Library this past Saturday. It was fun hanging out with author friends like Marcus Mastin and Joseph Sweet and meeting new writers, like Dave Andalora. I also had fun chatting with Dawn from the library. I didn't realize who she was when I talked with her on the phone to book my appearance, but it turns out we have met before, via my job at the radio station. We have a friend in common. You know what they say about "six degrees of separation!"

The most exciting thing that happened during this authors' fair was selling a copy of "Tricked" to a teacher by the name of "Mrs. S." She's going to put it in her sixth grade classroom! WOO-HOO! Perfect age group to read my little Halloween story. I offered to come in to talk to her class about it next month. I wouldn't charge for that, if she takes me up on my offer... the opportunity to get live feed back from my target audience would be INVALUABLE! I hope it all pans out!

Speaking of "Tricked," I am working on the follow-up. Just started Chapter Four. The book will be longer and more complex than the one-night terror fest that "Tricked" was. It's two years later, Patrick turns thirteen, one of his friends moves away, a girl comes into the picture... Need I say more?

I had a great day in Clayton, NY yesterday at the 1,000 Islands museum. I was invited to participate in a book signing by April Ingerson, who's just a sweet and delightful lady! Besides myself, other authors in attendance were Louise Ford, Audrey Lashomb, Matt Turcotte and Skip Couch. (Rex Ennis unfortunately had to pull out of the event due to the death of a cousin.) People traffic was a little slow, but all of us managed to sell some books that day. I sold four copies of "Finding My Father" and one copy each of "Tricked" and "A Little Company." I met some really nice people, heard some interesting stories about Grindstone Island from Audrey and Louise and enjoyed many hilarious anecdotes as related by April! And the free pizza was yummy!

Next up, the Lowville Library, next Saturday. Come one, come all!

Two Appearances This Week!

I am very excited to have TWO author appearances this week... First on Wednesday 8/10 at the Clayton Library and then the Summer Arts Festival, downtown Watertown on Saturday 8/13. Hope to see lots of old and new readers there!

I am having so much fun revisiting Patrick and Mariah as I begin writing the follow-up to "Tricked." Both the characters and myself, as an author, have grown so much since the first installment! I am pondering just the right title for it. "Cell" is already taken.. dang you, Stephen King! LOL...

From Old Forge to Clayton...

As always, it was great to get out to Old Forge for their annual Book Fair. There were about 15 other authors there, including Marcus J. Mastin and Nancy Lee Canfield. We were in a new location, under a big tent downtown, on the front lawn of a motel there. This worked out well for us. We got a lot of foot traffic, which was surprising for a Wednesday! It was a nice weather day, too, until a half hour before the event was scheduled to end. Then it started thundering and downpouring! Ah, well. Sold a few books, chatted with lots of interesting folks and got a free lunch out of it, so I was happy!

Next up: Clayton, NY at the Hawn Memorial Library. This is an evening event, held from 6-8PM, with a variety of authors stationed throughout the building. I expect to see some familiar faces and quite a few new ones. Hope I'll see you there!

More Selling and Signing!

Saturday, July 23 was a fantastic day for me! I was part of the "Art in the Park" event at Rhodes Greenhouses in Henderson Harbor, NY. There were three other authors there (in addition to lots of crafters, artisans and live musicians. I especially was grateful to make a new author friend in Kate Winter, who writes about local history. She lives part-time in Albany and part-time in Hawaii, which was a blessing for Pete and I. Pete (my hubby) is working on his first children's book, whose main character is a Hawaiian boy. Meeting Kate gave him an opportunity to learn more authentic details to enhance his story! I look forward to a time in the near future when Pete and I will be signing our respective books, side by side! I want to thank Melani Golding and Elaine Scott for inviting me to be a part of such a great event! (Especially since I sold 12 books!)

Tomorrow, I'm packing up and headed to Old Forge for the annual Authors' Fair there. Always a nice trip up to the Adirondacks!
