What's Goin' On

July 18, 2011

July is a very busy month for me, between book signing events and my regular day job. As much as I love documenting all of this activity via videos on my Facebook page, "Can This Author Make It In One Year?", I have been have terrible technical issues with my computer/ Flip cam/ Windows Movie Maker. So until I get all those glitches fixed, I will document my comings and goings via this blog. I should be trying harder to drive traffic to my website anyway... duh!

A couple Saturdays ago, I participated in the Second Annual Cheddar Cheese Festival in Adams, NY. The weather was great, there were lots of vendors and live music, and I had fun soaking up the sun. I made some great connections with potential readers, folks from the North Country Arts Council and the Henderson  Chamber of Commerce. In fact, I'll be participating in the"Art in the Park" event in Henderson this coming Saturday (7/23).

Congrats to Gail from Brewerton, who won a free copy of "Finding My Father" in the raffle I did at the Cheese Fest. Turns out  she ran an Alzheimer's support group for 15 years, so she was very excited to be my winner! Also, I want to thank JoAnn, another nice lady I met at the same event. She emailed me today to tell me she'd purchased my latest book at Green Thyme in Adams Center.

Next Tuesday, I'll be in Old Forge at the Authors Fair there. Instead of the library, the event will take place at the Forge Motel Knoll. This event will begin at 1PM.

I have also been doing a lot of songwriting, namely with my good friend, Darryl, and we have many good things to share with the world very soon!

Best,
Holly

New News

June 27, 2011
STILL waiting on the proof of "Finding My Father." Had technical difficulties up the Wazoo trying to format the thing. ARRGH! Frustrating. I can't wait to hold it in my hands! I can't wait til YOU hold it in YOUR hands, reading it!

Other than that, I have been writing lots of songs lately. Yes, I do music, too! Maybe I'll soon have some to share with you. I have a few older tracks on MySpace, but the new stuff is much better and I have high hopes of getting a "cut" in Nashville. Big dreams, b...

Am scrambling and getting assistance from those with more experience than I so that I can get this book OUT THERE, ASAP!!! Be patient with me, Dear Readers!!!

Out With The Old

May 23, 2011
... And in with the new! Got professional photo shoot done, so I'm gonna update the website soon. Trying to decide what pic to use on the homepage. A lot of the photos make me look good (retouched, of course!), but they're not very "author-ish," to coin a term. Hmmm... Decisions, decisions!

Nearing Completion!

April 30, 2011
The latest news from the homefront here is that I am working on the final touches for the new book... That would be honing the cover design, writing the copy for the back cover and soon, getting professional photos taken for both the back cover and the website. I'm a little nervous about that last one! Getting pictures taken is not my favorite thing in the world to do!

Also, please note on my homepage that my first book, "A Little Company" is on sale for $8.... That's $4 off the cover price! ...

Liverpool Library... A great day!

April 10, 2011
Thanks to all the great folks at the Liverpool Public Library for hosting such a fun event and letting me be part of it today! It was good to see familiar faces of author friends like Marcus Mastin and Joseph Sweet, and of new ones like Victoria Underwood. More thanks to those who purchased books from me, like Lillian and Sammie. The library is beautiful and modern. They have so many great events and guest authors! I look forward to going back next year. By then, my husband's book will be pub...

Revised cover is ready!

March 29, 2011
The brand new cover for A Little Company is ready and posted here! I used a portrait of my mother when she was young, along with one of many old funeral cards my family had saved over the years. The result is quite haunting! I should have a batch of books with the "facelift" in time for the Authors Extravaganza in Liverpool on April 10! Yippee, Yee-Haw and HOORAY!!!
