Self Published Book Expo
Posted by Holly Gaskin on Wednesday, October 6, 2010,
I had a wonderful time (and so did the Husband) at the Self Published Book Expo in NYC. There were many learning opportunities to be taken advantage of, and many experts to learn from. The only down side was that there were multiple lectures going on simultaneously, so I had to choose which ones I wanted to go to. I think I made the right choices! The freebies alone were worth the price of admission. I grabbed, literally, BAGFULS of literature and swag from The Writer Magazine, Amazon CreateS... Continue reading ...

My husband and I both participated in the First Annual Cheddar Cheese Festival in Adams, NY on Saturday. Together, we are "Woods and Words"... Pete is a luthier (builder of stringed instruments), and I, of course, am a wordsmith. Pete had one of his finished ukuleles on display, as well as a partially assembled work-in-progress. He kept busy sanding and filing a neck throughout the day. So many people stopped to ask, in complete shock and awe: "You BUILT that?!?", pointing at the handsome ten... Continue reading ...
Me? Technologically Challenged??

I don't consider myself to be technologically challenged. Well, DIDN'T. Until I started to compile my ebook. Er, well, I tried to... with dreadful results. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!! I feel like a nincompoop. especially since the Ebook Pro manual declares it's "so easy a 6-year-old could do it!"
Anyone know of a 6-year-old for hire??
I don't understand HTML. I don't get why the example window in the manual looks nothing like what I see when I open up my ebook for editing. Why, oh, why is it savin...

Happy Weekend!

I am happy to report that the writing of my new eBook is going well. I have lined up some great interviews with experts in the medical field. I am so lucky for their willingness to share their knowledge with me, free of charge! Actually, the hardest part is writing what I already know, because it involves a lot of uncomfortable memories from my childhood. But sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone in order to grow.
I'm taking advantage of the vast amounts of information on David R... Continue reading ...

Still So excited!

The thing with events like the Ultimate Success seminar, is when you come back to "real life," it can be a letdown. The "buzz" wears off after a couple of days, and you can feel depressed. Not so this time! In keeping in touch with some ofg the wonderful people I met... Aly & Andrea, Peggy McColl, Rich German, David Ricklan, Ken Brown, Dr. Deb, Alison Comrie... the positive vibes are still STRONG! It feels good to be following through and not just day-dreaming or wasting time planning. I'm wr... Continue reading ...
