Dear Readers:

Usually, by this time of year, I'm happily planning ahead for all the authors fairs, craft fairs, library events and farmers markets that are abundant in the spring, summer and autumn months. Unfortunately, due to events and changes in my personal life, I probably will not be making many, if any, appearances this year. There's still a new book coming by year's end. I'll keep you informed of places you can buy it.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Spooky Time!

Posted by Holly Gaskin on Wednesday, October 3, 2012,
Well, October is here, and in keeping with my yearly tradition, my front lawn looks like a graveyard. The skeleton is hanging out of the wishing well.Spiderwebs, witches and ghosts adorn my porch windows.  I still need to get some pumpkins. It's looking very spooktacularly festive at the Gaskin residence!

Looking forward to the Appleumpkin Festival at Flower Memorial Library this Saturday. I've known about it for years, but this is the first year I'm able to take part. I'll be there, signing ...

Two Appearances This Week!

Posted by Holly Gaskin on Sunday, August 7, 2011,
I am very excited to have TWO author appearances this week... First on Wednesday 8/10 at the Clayton Library and then the Summer Arts Festival, downtown Watertown on Saturday 8/13. Hope to see lots of old and new readers there!

I am having so much fun revisiting Patrick and Mariah as I begin writing the follow-up to "Tricked." Both the characters and myself, as an author, have grown so much since the first installment! I am pondering just the right title for it. "Cell" is already taken.. dang...

Onward, Ho!

Posted by Holly Gaskin on Sunday, November 14, 2010,
For the second year in a row, I am taking part in National Novel Writing Month ( Last year, I failed to meet my goal of penning a 30,000 word novel in a month. It got to the point where I realized the ending was going to be too dark for the age group I was writing for. I have started from scratch, adding more characters and a different setting for my main character, Brandon and his little family. Working title ideas are, The Hungry Monster or FEED ME!... something along tho...

Good Things Are Happening!

Posted by Holly Gaskin on Saturday, September 18, 2010,
Black River Fall Fest was AWESOME last weekend!! Sold many books... had to reorder so I'll have more copies for Fall book signings! The weather was perfect, too.

Did the Memory Walk today, in honor of my Dad. Again, beautiful weather, and Team EMAM (Every Mile A Memory) raised about $200 for the fight against Alzheimer's!

Looks like I'll be doing something at Burrville Cider Mill in October, and at the Adams Free Library the day before Halloween... Details coming soon!

Me? Technologically Challenged??

Posted by Holly Gaskin on Monday, June 28, 2010,
I don't consider myself to be technologically challenged. Well, DIDN'T. Until I started to compile my ebook. Er, well, I tried to... with dreadful results. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!! I feel like a nincompoop. especially since the Ebook Pro manual declares it's "so easy a 6-year-old could do it!"

Anyone know of a 6-year-old for hire??

I don't understand HTML. I don't get why the example window in the manual looks nothing like what I see when I open up my ebook for editing. Why, oh, why is it savin...

Great Developments!

This past Thursday, I got to interview Richard Taylor, the author of Alzheimer's From the Inside Out. It's an extraordinary autobiographical account of what it's like to actually live with the disease. An AMAZING man!! I am so lucky he agreed to talk with me. The interview will be included in my new book. I'll have an audio excerpt up on my Facebook page, "Can This Author Make It In One Year?" soon!

It's amazing what an "extra" day in the weekend can do for your creativity! Extra time to research, write, relax, etc. Found the journals I was missing in storage yesterday. This helped me get a lot more writing done, where, before there was blank pages and cloudy memories. It's amazing how much a healthy human brain can totally forget in one's own past. Makes the mystery of Alzheimer's all the more intriguing. I'll have to figure out how to post videos here so you can see what I mean!

Back Home

Posted by Holly Gaskin on Wednesday, May 26, 2010,
I'm back from my Boston trip. It was a successful journey. Pete and I did a LOT of walking! We clocked 9 miles and 10 another! We were blessed with beautiful weather. I got some more information for my book, but there's still a lot more investigating to do. While it was great to see my Dad and spend time with him, his condition makes it difficult to get answers to my questions. Besides the Alzheimer's, my father seems to have other psychological issues. At least he's in a safe place...
